Enter the 'Fortress of Solitude' at Avenue 50 Studio

Artist Ismael de Anda shares his thoughts on growing up between two worlds in South Texas and being influenced by his travels in Japan.

Artist Ismael de Anda III--creator of Fortress of Solitude, Flux Ultralux, which is currently showing in the Annex of --recently talked to Patch about his inspiration for the installation.

Through Fortress, de Anda has transformed Avenue 50 Studio's Annex into a world inhabited by his unique influences, acquired in his South Texas upbringing and travels in Northeast Japan.

Fortress is both interactive and inconspicious. It showcases de Anda not merging disparate influences, but rather laying them in a way that honors the numerous worlds he has walked through.
